Susan Dott Obituary

COLONIE - Susan “Pinky” Lee Carey Dott, 80, of Colonie, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022.

She is the beloved wife of Kenneth W. Dott Sr. Mother of Todd (Manuela) Kenny and Leah Conrad. Susan is the sister of Michael (Kathy) Carey and the late Janet Brienza, Wendy Moran and Alissa Carey. She is the stepmother of Ken (Katrina) Dott Jr., Kevin, Kimberly, Kerry and Kristina Dott and Sandra (Gary) Guerro. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Susan was born in Flushing, NY in 1942 and was the daughter of the late Charles and Luba Sokol Carey. She graduated from East Meadow High School in 1960. She worked in retail for many years. Susan was the manager of the year at Barnes Coffee and Tea in Boynton Beach, FL and also was a manager of Sam’s Club. She had served as secretary for the Town of Horicon Planning Board. Susan was active with therapy dog visits to Nursing Homes and elementary schools. Her therapy dog Gracie would sit with children and help them focus on developing their reading abilities. Susan was also involved with wild animal rescue.

Susan’s family is most grateful to the wonderful staff on the B2 unit at Van Rensselaer Manor. We thank you all for your kind and compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Susan’s family on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Gerald BH Solomon National VA Cemetery, Schuylerville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, (act.alz.org) 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
