Ruth Miller Obituary

Ruth Margaret Feeney Miller, 90, passed away peacefully at her home in Colonie surrounded by her loving family on March 18, 2021.

Born on February 23, 1931 in Albany, NY, Ruth graduated in 1949 from Roessleville High School as class valedictorian and class queen. After graduating high school Ruth started work at the Bell/NY Telephone Company. She married her CBA sweetheart, Alfred, on February 16, 1952, and stayed home to raise her young children before going back to work for the South Colonie School District, starting in the cafeteria and later becoming the head of the Colonie Central High School Attendance Office.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Alfred Charles Miller, who picked her up for their first date on his bicycle, which was the beginning of their many travels together, including Hawaii, Alaska, the Cayman Islands, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA and the Orange Bowl in Miami.

She was also predeceased by her mother Eleanor Feeney Tripp, her loving Aunt Margaret Clark, Aunt Mary Gephart and sister Barbara LaFave. She is also survived by her dear sister, Marcia Leatso, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ruth was the loving, caring mother of Michael (Jane) Miller; Debbie Taylor; Linda (Dennis) Keane; and son-in-law Arthur Taylor all of Colonie. She was the beloved grandmother of Allison Taylor; Stacy Taylor; Melissa (Anthony) Vignola; Michael Miller; Mackenzie (Stephen) Plaske; and Cass Keane. She adored her great-grandchildren: Gianna Lynn; Anthony Joseph; Joseph (Joey) Arthur Vignola and Riley Marie Miller.

Ruth loved her family so very much and cherished the times they all spent together; Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas Eve parties, Easter egg hunts, family picnics and clam bakes-where she was always so happy to make her famous potato salad. She especially delighted in celebrating birthdays and was always so proud to tell friends, family and strangers how many people were in her growing family and who had a birthday coming up.

Special thank you to her caregivers, especially her wonderful husband Alfred, daughter Debbie and granddaughters Stacy & Melissa who gave such loving and special care in Ruth's final years, and to Fr. John Provost for being there in our family's time of need.
