Ronald Alger Obituary

COLONIE – Ronald Alger of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Ellis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Schenectady and was the son of the late Randall and Vlasta Alger. Ron was proud of his time in the US Army serving in the 2nd Infantry Division in Germany where their motto was “Second to None”.  He was a truck driver with Consolidated Freightways in Latham for many years.

Ron had a passion for sharing the outdoors with family and friends. He loved to share the gospel message of salvation. He was a shining example of devotion and commitment to his beloved wife Norma. Ron was a youth group leader for twenty years and he led many young adults to Christ.

He enjoyed art, fishing, hunting, golfing and cooking. Ron was an awesome cook. Ron told Norma because she cooked for him until he retired, she could retire from cooking and he would cook for her now.  He loved camping and taking his grandkids and great grandkids tubing and fishing. Ron always told us “I loved you first”. That meant the world to us. He will be remembered as an amazing Husband. Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Norma J. Alger. Ron is the devoted father of Rhonda (John) Cooper, Pamela (Phillip) White, Ronald (Teresa) Alger, Melissa Alger and June (Sean) Murphy. He is the brother of Roberta (Robert) Laverty and his twin, Randall (Paula) Alger. Ron is the cherished grandfather of Katilyn (Paul Fusco), Sagan and Matthew Rockenstyre, Tristan Ng, Kyle, Brent, MaKenzie and Tyler White, Sean, Jordan and McKenna Murphy. He is the great grandfather of Adriana, Anthony, Kaiden, Kennedi, Cambree, Zoey, Taylor, Parker, Jaxon, Isabella, Zen, Violet, Miles, Orion and Ethan.
