Robert A. Gordon Sr.

Troy, NY - Robert Anthony Gordon Sr., 63, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY.

Born on August 6th, 1956 in Washington D.C. to the late Willie Mae Lewis King from Ronoake, VA and William Roosevelt Gordon from Washington D.C. 

Robert was employed as a laborer with the VA Medical Center in Montrose, NY for many years.

He will be remembered as a devoted family man. To know him was to love him, he was always the “Life of the Party” at gatherings with family and friends.

His past times included fishing, gaming at casinos and his all time favorite dancing.

He is pre-deceased by 3 sisters, Deborah Gordon Lipscomb from Newburgh, NY, Gloria Gordon Lloyd from Newburgh, NY and Sheila Gordon from Washington, DC, as well as brothers William Gordon (Billy) from Lancaster, SC and Dwight Simpson from Newburgh, NY.

He leaves behind his wife Vera Winston Gordon of Troy, NY.  Children Natasha Gordon Patterson (Devon) of Newburgh, NY, Robert Gordon Jr. of Keesville, NY, Virginia (Takera) Gordon of Troy, NY, Joshua Gordon Sr., Crystal Gordon, Christopher Gordon Sr., Elijah Gordon Sr. of Troy, NY, Joseph Strong of Dunedin FL, Marissa Every of Newburgh, NY, Theresa Burns (Darryl) of Newburgh, NY.  A sister Marlene Simpson Brown (Perry), and brother Eddie Gordon Sr. (Donna) both of Newburgh, NY.  He also leaves behind 42 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, hosts of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his daughter in law Katherine Lind of Troy, NY.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday, July 9 at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave, Albany, NY.  Friends may call from 10am to 11am at the funeral home prior to the service.

Burial with military honors will follow at 1:30pm at Saratoga National Cemetery.
