WEST ALBANY - Richard F. Commerford, Jr., 68, of West Albany, passed away on Saturday September 8, 2018, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Richard F. and Edna Mae Sager Commerford Sr. Rich served in the US Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Rich had worked for the former Schaefer Brewery. He later worked for many years with US Postal Service General Mail Facility in Colonie. He was a member of the Zaloga Post American Legion, the West Albany Rod & Gun Club and the Watervliet Rod & Gun Club. Rich was an avid golfer and enjoyed riding his Harley. He cherished special time with his family, friends and good food.

Rich is the father of Jeremy (Tracey) Commerford and Stacey (David) Ferguson. He is the cherished Poppy to Mac and Megan Ferguson. Rich is the brother of Beverly Hacker (late Robert), Janet (Dennis) Krause, Freddie (Kelly) Commerford and the late Larry Commerford. He is the former husband of Jacky Harrison Commerford. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rich’s family on Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. A prayer service will be offered at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
