December 7, 1932 ~ October 2, 2023 (age 90) 90 Years Old
COLONIE – Raymond H. Metzger, 90, of Colonie, formerly of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Monday, October 02, 2023 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City.
He was born in Troy, NY and was the son of the late Joseph and Dorilda Snay Metzger. Ray was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ann Hogan Metzger; his son Raymond Metzger and his brother, Joseph F. Metzger.
Uncle Ray was a 1950 graduate of Catholic Central High School. He was a Design Engineer with IBM in East Fishkill, retiring after 30 years of service. Ray was a devoted husband and an honorable family man. He enjoyed summers at Brant Lake, crossword puzzles, tinkering and searching for anything to fix or repair. He was the head maintenance Supervisor at Sunset Mountain Lodge.
Ray is the father of John (Ellen) Metzger of Warwick, NY, Joseph (Kathy) Metzger of Albany and Matthew (Joanne) Metzger of Gardiner, NY. He is the dear brother of Jane Kolakowski. Ray is the cherished Pipere of Megan (Adrian) Neves, Ryan (Kristen), Joseph, Michael (Hannah O’Neil), Erin and Kevin Metzger. He is the great grandfather of Charlotte and Quinn Neves. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ray’s family on Monday, October 09, 2023 from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 11:00 am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Troy.
