Paul DelVecchio Obituary

ALBANY – Paul E. DelVecchio, 67, of Albany, NY entered into eternal life on December 29, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born on February 28, 1953 in Catskill, NY, the devoted son of Marjorie (Marafioti) DelVecchio and the late Edward DelVecchio.

Paul met his beloved wife, Janet (Trischetta) DelVecchio, while both were in Junior High School.  Their relationship began as friends and eventually blossomed into love.  They were best friends and soulmates truly devoted to one another and married for over 46 years.  Paul was also the loving father of Paul M. DelVecchio, of Albany, and Lisa (Craig) Raymond of Schaghticoke.  He is also survived by his sister Jan (Thomas) Koenig of Glenmont, and brother-in-law Ronald Trischetta of Guilderland, nieces Gina (Todd) Hanley, Caitlin Hanley, Kaysie Hanley, and Kara Koenig, nephews Brian Trischetta and Daniel Hanley as well as several cousins.  He was predeceased by his grandparents, Frank and Mary DelVecchio and Carmello and Carmella Marafioti, his mother and father-in-law Dominic and Josephine Trischetta and his 4-legged buddy Dante.

Upon Paul’s graduation from Albany High School in 1971, he joined the Carpenter’s Union where he learned the trade.  He was also mentored by his late father-in-law, Dominic Trischetta, a custom builder, who taught Paul the business along with the art of woodworking and cabinetry making.  In 1976, Paul became self-employed and started his own business as Albany Custom Interiors.  His work reflected his attention to detail, and he was highly respected among his peers in the industry and his clients.  His talents can be seen in homes across the Capital District, Niskayuna, Loudonville, Delmar, Clifton Park and so many others too numerous to mention.  He was in a thriving business for 20 years until an accident in 1996 forced Paul into early retirement.

Paul had an outgoing personality and made friends everywhere he went.  He was a caring individual who would help when called upon without hesitation.  Paul’s interests early on were muscle cars, fishing, traveling, bowling, getting together with friends, playing darts as a former member of the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society, family dinners, and tinkering in his workshop in later years.  But his main joy was his children and their accomplishments.  He was so proud of them.

Paul will be remembered for his loyalty, integrity, and his love for his family and friends as well as his firm handshake, bear hugs, and beautiful smile.  He was a man of tall stature but was a gentle soul with a kind disposition and great sense of humor.  He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital and Albany Medical Center ICU as well as the staff from CDPHP Landmark and The Eddy Visiting Nurses for their care and compassion toward Paul during the past few years.
