Patricia Sherman Obituary

Colonie - Patricia M Sherman, 81 passed away peacefully Monday October 4, 2021 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peters.

Born in Amsterdam, New York on February 25, 1940, the daughter of the late Percy and Marie Sherman. She was a 1957 graduate of Colonie Central High School. Patricia also attended Russell Sage College and then graduated from Albany Medical Center Nursing School as an RN in 1961.

 Patricia went on to use her nursing skills in a variety of settings, first working at Albany Medical Center, then providing skilled nursing care as a Private-Duty nurse before she transitioned to becoming an Investigator for the New York State Commission for Quality of Care.  She was also the owner of a very successful gift basket company Gift Basket Connections for 30 years.

Patricia was proudly inducted into The Baton Twirlers Hall of Fame in 1992. She enjoyed going to garage sales with friends and family. She would say, “You just never know what you might find”.

She was a proud member of The Red Hat Society “Fire and Ice” and The Sweepstakes Group “A Real Bunch of Winners”

Patricia’s greatest love was for her family. Nothing brought her more joy then talking, laughing and reminiscing about old memories. She was truly an amazing Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and friend.

 

Her long-term partner John Ryan predeceased Patricia.

Survivors include her devoted children Michael Ruth (Debbie) Matthew Ruth (Hiedi), Former Daughter in law Gina Ruth. Her beloved Grandchildren Stephanie Ruth (Alex) ,Shannon Kosakowski (Shane) ,Cody Martel ( Taylor) ,  Jarod Martel (Kenzie) and Anjel and Kyle Ruth. Adored Great Grandchildren Brynn, Jayde, Maddox and Asher; Loving sisters Carole Fortin (Dick) Roseanne Kemp (Bill) and half-brother Terry Sanger and half-sister Deb Sanger along with  several adoring nieces and nephews.

Patricia’s beloved cat Sox will also forever hold a special place in her heart.

The family would like to thank her best friend Maria Diehl along with the many friends who visited during her illness.

They would also like to acknowledge Colonie EMS, Mohawk ambulance and the staff at The Hospice Inn at St. Peters for all their wonderful compassionate care over the years.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Pat’s family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The family requests that everyone please wear masks to keep each other safe during these trying times.
