Nathan Perry Jr. Obituary

Nathan Braxton Perry Jr. a longtime Schenectady resident and retired counsellor at the New York State Correctional facility at Johnstown, New York died Sunday January 10, 2021.


Nathan is survived by his sister, Sandra A. Elmore (nee Perry) and brother in law Patrick C. Elmore of Lakeland, Florida, and his devoted soulmate and best friend Laurie Preville of Schenectady, New York. He is predeceased by his parents, Nathan Braxton Perry Sr. and Georgianna Sawyer Perry of Long Island New York.


Nathan was born on September 20, 1952 in New York City and graduated from Amityville High School where he played on the football team and pursued his musical interests by playing in the school band. After graduation from high school Nathan attended and graduated from Stony Brook University on Long Island. Upon graduation from Stony Brook, Nathan accepted a position as a Counselor/Therapist at the New York State Correctional Facility at Johnstown, New York, where he honed his skills and was known for his sense of humor and Problem solving skills. He often took on unwanted projects and people and was known for his intuitive decision making. He retired after a thirty year tenure and will be missed by all who knew him. 


Nathan was also a devotee of Motown music and was enthusiastic about the artists and their music. He enjoyed watching football and excelled in karaoke competitions. 


In addition to his sister Sandra and his soulmate Laurie, Nathan is survived by a host of family and friends who will miss his candid humor and cheerful manner.


A memorial Service will be held at Cannon Funeral Home at 2020 Central Avenue, Albany New York on Saturday January 16, 2021 at 2pm. Flowers and condolences may be sent to Cannon Funeral Home at the above address.
