Michael Decker Obituary

COLONIE – Michael K. Decker, 75, of Colonie, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Frederick Decker and Claire Decker (Romaine). He was the cherished Grandson of Jean “Honey” and Frederick Decker. Mike served in the US Navy from 1967 through 1971. He was commissioned on the USS Perry, Destroyer in the Mediterranean. Mike was employed for thirty-eight years at the Watervliet Arsenal, retiring as a calibration inspector. He was a member of American Legion Post 1493. Mike enjoyed reading science fiction, crossword puzzles and spending time with his cherished family.

Mike is the beloved husband of fifty years to Norma Keech Decker. He is the devoted father of Jennifer, Jessica, Megan and Theresa Decker. Mike is the brother of Mark Decker, Frederick Decker Jr., Peggy Carston, and Sharon (Bill) Shatraw. He will be dearly missed by his canine companion, Beau and his many fur grand babies.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mike’s family on Friday from 4 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to NENY Alzheimer’s Ass’n, (alz.org).
