December 19, 1938 ~ October 12, 2023 (age 84) 84 Years Old
COLONIE - Lois L. McCormick, 84, of Colonie, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Schenectady Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the Late William and Mary Biance Hoffman. Lois was predeceased by her husband, Donald John McCormick in 2015.
She was a former President of the West Albany Elementary School PTA. Lois was a longtime member and volunteer at the West Albany Italian Benevolent Society where she was a fixture of Friday pizza nights. Lois was a champion bocce player at the IBS and the Italian Community Center in Troy. She cherished Italian food and traditions, particularly during the holidays. Lois’ home was always welcoming, displaying her yellow Home Free sign.
Lois is the beloved mother of Karen Begin (late Jacques), Sharon (Billy) Herald and Tracey (Jimmy) Carter. She is the cherished grandmother of Jason and Joshua (Amanda) Begin, Alexandrea “Allyoop” and Dominick Herald, Cameron and Brody Carter. Lois is the great grandmother of Avery and Colton Begin. She is the sister of Maryann Cassera. Lois loved her German Shepherds; Fritz, Bear and Diesel; grand puppy Hercules Herald, great grand puppies Georgie and Flower Herald; K9 Bates Carter and grand horse Kevin Herald.
The family wishes to thank and recognize the wonderful staff on the Willow Unit who loved and cared for Lois in a genuine and sincere manner. We are truly grateful for all of your kindness.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lois’ family on Monday from 5 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 pm.
