Lindley Taylor, Jr. Obituary

Colonie- Lindley R. Taylor, Jr., 84, formerly of Central Square, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2022 at the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Lindley, referred to by many as “Lenny,” grew up in Cumberland, Maryland. He joined the Air Force which afforded him the opportunity to see much of the world and experience different cultures. It was while stationed in Plattsburgh, New York where Lenny met his sweetheart Wanda and they married on June 21, 1958.

After leaving the military, Lenny worked for the Golub corporation as a Price Chopper store manager in many communities, ultimately retiring from Guilderland store #52. He was well-known to his customers and the local community for his generosity and volunteer work. That is where he was dubbed the unofficial “Mayor of Guilderland”. Everyone who knew him knew he loved his wife and his family; but followed closely was his love of Cadillacs, collectibles, his flower beds and a good cigar. Lenny’s sense of humor was never in short supply along with his faith which kept him going. He touched many lives and will never be forgotten.

Lenny is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Wanda; his three sons Mark (Denise), Todd (Colleen), and Craig (Donald); his grandchild Justin Taylor (Kayla); and his great grandson Clayton Taylor. He is predeceased by his sister Eleanor and his brother Charles.
