Joseph Montesano Obituary

COLONIE – Joseph W. Montesano, 73, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 05, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe was born in Albany and was the son of the late George J. and Margaret Montesano and brother of the late Elaine (Wayne) Dragon and Maryanne Montesano.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Freda and six children, Traci (John) Grail, Chiara (Andy) Wiggins, Christopher (Starlette) Sheffield, Timothy (Don) Sheffield, Anthony Montesano and Rose (Sean) Skelly. He is the brother of Janice (Ray) Ricciardi, Rosemary (Tom) Giaquinto, Kathi (Jeff) Ostrander, George (Nancy) Montesano and David Montesano. Joe is also survived by 12 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Joe had worked for the State University at Albany for 28 years. He was a cabinet maker and Jack of all trades. Joe would help anyone without hesitation. He was a member of Fuller Rd. Fire House and the Albany Elks. He loved his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. A friend to many, Joe was a wonderful man and will be dearly missed by all.

The family offers sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff from Hospice for their remarkable care in Joe’s last days. Special thanks to Marita, Wendy and Joe.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joe’s family on Wednesday, May 05, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantries for the Capital District, 32 Essex Street, Albany, NY 12206 (the foodpantries.org).
