John "Jack" Mosher Obituary

Latham, NY - John “Jack” Mosher, 88, passed away on December 19, 2020 at Albany Medical Center after a brief but courageous battle with coronavirus.

Born in Albany on May 4, 1932, Jack was the beloved son of the late Francis and Katherine Mosher. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Jane and his brothers, Richard and Thomas Mosher.  Jack attended Watervliet High School, and then spent 2 years in the United States Army before his discharge in August 1954. Jack married the love of his life Jane Newell on November 27, 1954.  He worked at Frank Mosher and Son’s Garage as a gifted auto-mechanic before opening J&J Auto Electric. He was a communicant of St. Pius X Church, Loudonville, NY.

His family and friends will always remember his incredibly fantastic belly laugh that accompanied his wry sense of humor.  Jack was a wonderful storyteller and loved being able to impart years of wisdom, and wit, to those around him.  He was an extremely generous man from who we have learned the value of a dollar through hard work, but more importantly: to always carry cash, as you never know when you’ll need it.

Jack was devoted to his wife Jane.  Their 65 years of marriage can only be described steadfast, and one of constant affection. Jack and Jane spent all their time together, and enjoyed wintering in New Smyrna Beach, Florida after his retirement.  Wherever he traveled, Jack made time to hit the links as an avid golfer, and a member of the Legion Post, 1610.

Jack is survived by his loving daughters Ellen Whipple, Karen (Rusty) Bogdan, Susan (Kevin) Kohinke and Paula (Thomas) Mosher-Erwert, his six grandchildren, Christina, Lauren (Alex), Garrett, Drew, David (Katelyn), Sarah and one great grandson, Luka. He is also survived by his brother Francis Mosher as well as by several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Albany Medical Center for all their kindness and loving care.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date and will be announced to immediate family members and friends.
