John O'Connor Obituary

NISKAYUNA – John Francis O’Connor, 77, of Niskayuna, passed away on Tuesday July 20, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his devoted family after the past year’s valiant fight.

John was born in Albany and was the son of the late Frank and Mary O’Connor.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife Teresa Fragomeni O’Connor. “Oakie” graduated from Vincentian Institute  in 1961, he and Teresa were married in 1964.  John was a lineman with ATT & Verizon for many years. After his retirement John filled his life with traveling, golf, bowling and family. His major focus was the devotion and love he shared with his grandchildren.  His greatest joy was being a significant part of their care and upbringing.  He was an automobile enthusiast and enjoyed driving his new Corvette. A talented handyman, he could fix anything.

John is the proud father of JoMarie (Chris) Ethier and Jeffrey (Diana) O’Connor. He is the cherished Pa to Nathaniel and Delainey O’Connor; Jacob, Caleb and Anna Ethier. John is the brother in-law of Anne (late Tony), Rocco (late MaryAnne) and Patrick (Maureen) Fragomeni, Rosemary (Walt) Spallane. He is the loving companion of Maria Fagan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Dr Elena Theodosiou and Dr Christian Gasson and their staff, especially to Infusion Nurses Lisa and Amanda and Radiation Nurse Patty. The family is also grateful to the Hospice Team for their care over the past week and to Katie Cowley-Cooper whose loving care and friendship made it all possible.
