Jody Nixon Obituary

Colonie – On Monday, April 15, Jody Rae Nixon (Osterlitz) passed away unexpectedly at home of health complications related to her heart.

Jody was born on June 26, 1980 and was the beloved daughter of the late Nancy and George Osterlitz. She was also predeceased by her uncle Ron Osterlitz.

Jody is survived by her beloved son Tanner Nixon, her step-sister Renee Osterlitz, her ex-husband Jason Nixon, her loving Aunt Dee Myers and uncle Frank Myers, her best friend Stacey Claus, her rescue dog Daisy whom she adored so much, and her cousin Michelle Osterlitz.

Jody graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1998. She later attended Hudson Valley Community College and Russell Sage College where she majored in Interior Design. Jody was a member of the Colonie High School cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams. With constant encouragement from her coaches and teammates Jody had a fulfilling and successful running career which included many exciting moments. Jody was so happy and proud that her son participated in the same three sports at Colonie.

Jody formed many friendships through her years of work at Bella Napoli in Latham and most recently in the automotive industry.

Jody was a fighter and passionate about the things that mattered to her. She always put the ones she loved first over herself. Jody was like a daughter to her Aunt Diane and Uncle Frank and had become an amazing caretaker of her aunt in recent months.

Jody’s laugh and smile were captivating and infectious. She had many hobbies including cooking, making jewelry, gardening, arranging flowers and all things design. She loved to play games and cards with her family and especially her Aunt Diane and Uncle Frank whom she used to “crush” in Uno and Crazy Eights.

Jody will be greatly missed by everyone privileged to know her in her all-too-short lifetime. The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, May 2 from 4-6 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie. In lieu of flowers donations to the Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, 12204 in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
