Georgina "Gina" Bauer Obituary

COLONIE - Georgina “Gina” Weir Bauer, 56, of Colonie, entered into eternal life on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Albany Medical Center.

She was born in Tralee, Ireland and is the cherished daughter of Mary Ellen (Fitzgerald) Weir and the late John Weir. Gina came to the United States as an infant. She was educated in Albany schools and attended the Jr. College of Albany. Gina enjoyed many activities such as reading James Patterson books, traveling, and spending time with her loving family. She was also very fond of snowmen and would display them year-round in her home. Her travels took her every summer to Baltimore, Maryland with her husband and son to watch Baltimore Orioles games. Gina’s family was always her priority. She would rarely turn down an evening of cards and always looked forward to family events such as summer get-togethers and the holiday season. She also took advantage of life’s little moments which could include a relaxing day at home, a day trip somewhere, sweet alone time with her husband holding his hand, going to breakfast with her best friend, and attending plays her son was part of. The little things always meant the most to Gina.

Gina is survived by her husband of 23 years, Timothy M. Bauer, her son Colin J. Bauer and her brothers, Gerard (Beth) Weir and Maurice (Terry) Weir. She is the daughter in law of Frederick W. (Evelyn) Bauer III and sister in law of Angel Bauer (late Frederick W. Bauer IV). Gina is the aunt of Lindsay, Elise and Michael Weir; Sarah, Freddy, and Ted (Kayla) Bauer. She is also survived by her best friend, Theresa Roemer.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:30 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave, Albany. Please only enter the church from the Hunter Ave. parking lot doorway. Face masks and social distancing are required. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
