Antonina Shevtchuk Obituary

COLONIE - Antonina Shevtchuk, 86, passed away February 24, 2021 after a short illness.  She was born in Poddubje, Russia on January 1, 1935 to Pavel and Olga Nikiforov.  In addition to her husband Anatolii, she was predeceased by siblings Viktor, Evgenia, Anastasia, and Misha.

She is survived by her children, Sergei (Tracey) and grandson Samuel of Albany, Victor (Sera) of New Jersey, and Luba (Nick) of New Jersey.  Siblings Ludmial, Alexandra, and Alex. 

Antonina worked briefly as a seamstress but was a homemaker for most of her life.  A great love for her family, she also had a strong Russian Orthodox faith and devotion to her church, Nativity of Mother of God.

We would like to thank all the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for their caring and compassion during her time there.  Also, special thanks to the Parish of The Nativity of the Mother of God Church for their thoughts and prayers.

Calling hours will be at Nativity of Mother of God Church at 617 Sand Creek Rd. on Friday February 26th from 4:30 to 6:30 with a Panhida Service at 7:00 pm.  Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday with burial following in Jordanville, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Antonina’s name to the Nativity of the Mother of God Church.  A celebration of life for Antonina will be held at a later date.
