Aline Laquidara Obituary

Aline Heroux Laquidara, 91, of Albany, NY, formerly of Viera, Florida and Ballston Spa, NY, died April 3, 2024, peacefully with her family at her side. Aline was born on December 17, 1932, in Cohoes, NY to Albert Heroux and Ruth Heroux (Mimi).

Aline was pre-deceased in 2018 by her husband Peter of sixty-four years. Aline is survived by her five children and their families: Karen Laquidara Howe, husband Barry Howe and son Daniel Dickinson, wife Lauren and son Crew; Denise Muller, husband Michael Muller and daughters Jessica Hartwell, husband Ryan Hartwell and daughter Evie; and Allison Kennedy, husband Colin Kennedy and son Augustus; Ann Agbayani, husband Jesse Agbayani and daughters Nicole Agbayani, husband Christian Zamudio and daughter Mika; and Michelle Agbayani; Donna Laquidara-Carr and husband Doug Carr; and Frank Laquidara, wife Mary Ann Laquidara and children Peter Laquidara and Beth Laquidara.

Aline is also survived by her younger brother Mark Heroux, wife Mary Ann and children Adam, Sandy and Amy.

Aline graduated from Sacred Heart Elementary School in 1946, Catholic Central High School in 1950, both in Troy, NY, and from Albany State with a Business Degree in 1954. Aline met Peter Laquidara, an Engineering student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, when she was a freshman at Albany State. They dated throughout college and after they both graduated, Aline and Peter were married on May 1, 1954.

Aline and Peter moved to Okinawa Japan, where Peter served two years in the Army Corp of Engineers. While in Okinawa, Aline and Peter welcomed two of their five children: Karen in 1955 and Denise in 1957. After returning to upstate New York, Aline was an integral partner in the family construction business, Laquidara Inc., building dozens of dams, water treatment plants and hydroelectric plants across New York. She used her degree to manage the business finances, helped scout and visit project sites with Peter and contributed to the success of the company, while balancing a family life that now included daughter Ann, born 1960, Donna in 1965, and Frank in 1967.

Aline was a kind and compassionate person who made everyone in the extended family and beyond feel welcomed in the Laquidara household. She was a woman ahead of her times, with a passion for healthy organic foods and natural medicines and taking the lead the design of the Laquidara home in Ballston Spa. Aline loved babysitting her seven grandchildren when they were young and watching them grow into adults. She was also a four-time great-grandmother and a lifelong Catholic and was deeply involved in the church community. Aline was an avid reader who loved playing cards and mahjong with her dear friends.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Aline’s caregivers over the past few years, who helped Aline every day and made it possible for her to pass away in her home.
