William J. "Bill" Urban, 90, of Wynantskill NY peacefully passed away on March 9th, 2026, after a seemingly endless stream of family and friends came to bid him farewell.
Bill, a Korean War Veteran, was born in Albany NY on March 26th, 1935. He began his career at Schafer's Brewery, where he worked until their closing. He eventually settled into work at Arnoff Moving, where he stayed until his retirement.
It was in Albany where he met his wife of 67 years, Joyce Thomas Urban, and welcomed 3 children into the world, before moving to Wynantskill NY where they were raised. It was here he called home, and over the years he found every good fishing spot a town could possibly offer, made countless friends, and held cherished family gatherings.
Bill was adored by his Grandchildren, who always knew exactly where they could find him- in his recliner, shuffling his deck of cards with the horse races on the TV. He loved bowling, and gardening, finding joy in being both social and solitary.
Bill is predeceased by his wife Joyce Urban, and his grandson Michael.
He will be missed greatly by those who survive him: his children, Chris (Deborah), Stephen (Sheila), and Maryanne Urban; his brother, Peter Urbanowicz; his grandchildren Chris W. Urban (Lisa), Rebecca Urban Cost (Ted), Chelsea Urban, Elizabeth Gomez (Daniel), Stephen Urban Jr. (Ashley), Jesse Urban (Chelsea), and Sarah Urban; his great-grandchildren Thomas, Isabella and William Urban, Grace and Charlie Garrow, Llewelyn Cost, Aahliyah Urban, Talia Gomez, and Uriah Urban; as well as several nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
