COLONIE – William A. O’Connell, 92, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Watervliet and was the last surviving child of Arthur and Grace O’Connell. Bill served in the US army during the Korean War. The last of the O’Connell clan, he was the cherished patriarch. Bill was a sales representative for Keis and Greene Beer Distributors. He later worked as a display associate for Colony Liquor in Albany. Bill was a member of the Electric City Chorus and sang with the Barbershop Quartet. He was an avid golfer and scored two holes in one. Bill was an avid NY Yankees and New York Giants fan. He enjoyed family parties and reunions.
Bill is the beloved husband of sixty six years to Theresa C. O’Connell. He is the devoted father of Karen (Gregory) Graef and David W. (Frances) O’Connell. Bill is the cherished Grandpa to Katie, Jessica (Shawn), Kristen (Steve), Kevin, Dj (Jillian) and Rebecca. He is the brother of the late Marion Wood, Edmund, Daniel, James, Joseph, Thomas, Gerald and Arthur O’Connell. Bill is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bill’s family on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Clare’s Church, 1947 Central Ave., Colonie. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
