Albany- Victoria Samara Lembesis of Albany passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. She was born on August 6, 1945, in Lesbos, Greece to the late Vasilia Samara and the late Fotios Samara. She was married for 52 years to the late Spiro Lembesis and is survived by her loving children Vasilis (Georgia) Lembesis and Maria (Greg) Sokaris and her 6 grandchildren Alex, Spiro, John, Dean, Victoria and Anastasia.
Victoria emigrated from Greece in 1969, alongside her beloved husband and young son. A woman of remarkable strength and resilience, her greatest joy was her family. Victoria’s devotion to her children and grandchildren was boundless, and her home was a constant haven of warmth and welcome. Whether you were a friend or stranger, you were always greeted with open arms. Her cooking was well known—not just for its flavor, but for the care, creativity, and soul she poured into every dish.
A trained seamstress with an extraordinary eye for detail, she brought the same finesse to her work as she did to every corner of her life. Whether it was fulfilling a request from her children or crafting something special for a friend, she stitched love and dedication into everything she made.
Victoria gave generously of her time and talents, serving as a cherished volunteer at the local Greek festival and a committed member of Philoptochos. From catering luncheons to preparing her renowned specialties for bake sales, she was always eager to support and uplift those around her.
Her legacy is one of compassion, craftsmanship, and unwavering love—for her family, her heritage, and her community. Victoria touched many lives and made every space she entered feel like home. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family wishes to thank everyone who helped them through this difficult time including the professional and compassionate care of Hospice care (nurse Rosemary) and her doctors (Dr. Kayayan and Dr. Molho). A calling hour will be held to visit with family and friends on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 10am in the St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church with a service to follow at 11am. Interment will take place in the Graceland Cemetery. If you wish to remember Victoria, please donate in her name to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Rd., Albany, NY, 12208.
