COLONIE – Sandra L. Lovely, 81, of Colonie, passed away in her sleep on Tuesday morning, April 15, 2025, at the Shaker Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She is now at peace after many years of suffering from dementia.
Sandra was born in Albany on April 30, 1943, and was the daughter of the late Daniel and Harriet Batchelder Weiss. She lived much of her life in Colonie and attended Colonie Central High School. While still in school, Sandra met and married Harold Lovely. She then became a mother and was a loving, hard working Mom to her two sons throughout their childhood. Sandra then changed direction, got her GED, attended college classes, and became a professional in the work force. She was employed by the Federal Highway Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, where she worked as a tax auditor. She retired with over twenty-five years of government service. Sandra also lived in Irving, Texas for many of her years with the IRS. Upon returning to the Capital District, she worked for the Home Depot and was briefly employed by the Cohoes Central School District as an elementary school monitor. Sandra was also a Life Member of the Fuller Road Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She also enjoyed music, dancing and socializing, especially with her many friends. Sandra cared deeply for people she came in contact with and was always willing to help anyone that needed assistance.
Sandra is the devoted mother of William (Mary) Lovely and Richard Lovely, both of Colonie. She is the sister of Lynda Valente of North Greenbush. Sandra was predeceased by her infant brother Daniel Weiss Jr. and her sister Geraldine Ruede. She is also survived by her four grandsons; Andrew, Matthew, Daniel, and Connor; her former husband Heide Lovely, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at both Kenwood Manor in Bethlehem and Shaker Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their efforts, compassion, and loving care of Sandra during her illness. The family would also like to thank Scott Boice and Tamara Elzubair for their remarkable special care and love of Sandra at Shaker Place.
