Sandra L. Dixon, 55, of Troy, NY formerly of Albany, NY lost her long battle with heart failure and neurologic events on October 6, 2026. Sandy was the daughter of the late Albert and Doris Dixon (Decker) of Albany, NY and the mom to three angel babies whom she will now be reunited with.
Sandy is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law Nancy and John Faccone of Clifton Park, NY. She was the proud aunt of her nephew Ryan Faccone of Clifton Park and niece and nephew-in-law Jenna and Wesley Vogt of Rotterdam, NY. Sandy lived to be an aunt and loved all the kids beyond all words. She is also survived by many aunts, cousins, and children of her heart who called her their aunt as well. Not to forget of course her beloved V-Girls, whom she spent many years with and who were present for all of her important life moments, having a friendship of thirty plus years.
Sandy was a social worker and drug & alcohol counseling specialist for over 25 years in the city of Albany and ended her career at Albany County Mental Health Department/ALT Program in 2014 when her health began to decline. She loved being a counselor and her many jobs over the span of her career. She was a passionate advocate for those requiring help getting their needs met and living a higher quality of life. Sandy loved “her guys” as she called them and enjoyed their resilience and way of looking at life.
She very much loved her family and of course all the kids. She was honored to be an aunt to so many and hoped that they would continue her legacy of love, family history, and laughter.
In keeping with Sandy’s wishes, in lieu of flowers please consider a donation in her name to the Cardiac & Cardiovascular Program at Samaritan Hospital through Samaritan Hospital & The Eddy Foundation, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208, in the hopes that the funding will help other people get better from new treatments. She wanted to thank everyone who helped her during her illness especially her family, her medical team, and all the families that took her in as their own.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 10 am to 12 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie, with a Celebration of Life to commence at 12 pm. Inurnment will follow the service at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, 1389 Central Ave., Colonie.
