Roy W. LaDuke

Roy Walter LaDuke passed away June 24, 2025 surrounded by his family. Roy was born April 27, 1931 in Black Brook, NY to the late Peter and Myrtle (McKee) LaDuke. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the US Army attached to the 5th Airborne.

He was a heavy equipment operator at Pollard’s and LaDuke Brothers of Voorheesville.

Roy married the love of his life Joan (Degen) LaDuke September 11, 1954, and they enjoyed 71 blissful years together. He resided in Altamont while raising his family and then moved to Colonie.

Roy enjoyed western square dancing, traveling on bus trips, camping in their RV and even wintered in Florida to continue their enjoyment of square dancing. He volunteered for over 20 years at Albany Memorial Hospital transporting patients in wheelchairs. He was a longtime member of Colonie Senior Citizens, but his true passion was his family.

Roy was survived by his wife Joan Degen LaDuke until she recently passed on June 30, 2025. He is survived by his loving children Linda Hoogkamp (Bill), and Brian LaDuke; grandchildren Jeremy Hoogkamp, Nicole Hoogkamp (Frank), and his favorite great grandson William Hoogkamp. He is also survived by his sister in laws Arlene (Degen) LaDuke, Marian (Degen) LaDuke and Many nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his brothers Eugene, Louis, Nelson, Robert, Dale, and Thomas LaDuke, and his sisters Belva Mattot and Velma Tice.

Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 11:00 am at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am at the church. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Our Light food pantry.
