GUILDERLAND - Richard Warren Tice, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished brother, uncle, and friend, passed away in the home he built, on January 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 19, 1941, in Albany, New York, Richard lived a life rooted in hard work, family, and quiet strength. He was the kind of man who always showed up for the people he loved – reliable, steady, and unwavering in his support.
Richard was a proud mason and longtime member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local No. 2, having joined the union in 1965. He was also a longtime member of the Guilderland Elks, where he found camaraderie and community.

Tice; and their children Greg Tice (late Christine), Laura Tice-Plant (Ed Marcy), Tina Woodward (Bob), Russell Tice (Jennifer Gagnon), Richard Tice (Kelly), and Melissa Dover (Jeffrey); his siblings Linda Bates, Wayne and David Tice; his grandchildren Jacqueline (Charles) Hewitt, Jessica (Tyler) Foster, Leanna Tice (Tim Snyder), Michael (Elizabeth) Woodward, Garrett Plant (Anastasia Gayne), Lindsy (Dan) Sim, Amanda Plant (Chris Shoemaker), Colby Plant, Corey Plant, Emily Tice, Savanna Plant, Addison Dover, Logan Dover, Tyler Tice, Isaac Dover, Sydney Tice, Madelyn Tice and Lily Tice; and his great-grandchildren Lennon and Monroe Hewitt, Elliott, Gavin and Laine Shoemaker, Rhea and Ruby Sim, Owen and Adeline Foster and baby boy Woodward, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever feel his loss. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis Fox Tice and John Henry Tice; and his siblings, Mary Polhemus, Fran Aussicker, Jack and Robert Tice.
Richard had a passion for traveling, gardening, and woodworking. Along with Kathie, they enjoyed wintering in their second home in Florida at Lake Magic RV Park. He especially enjoyed helping friends and family, sharing a good beer, and teasing his loved ones – a trait that brought laughter and warmth to everyone around him. His presence, humor, and generosity will be deeply missed.
