Paul Wiedl, 79, of South Glens Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday February 10, 2026. He was born in Danbury, Connecticut, raised in Queensbury, NY. Paul was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, Glens Falls NY. He was a graduate of SUNY Brockport, Brockport NY.
He played in multiple sports throughout his school years and was most known for his 12-year football career combining both High School and College and beyond. After graduating from college, he signed a professional Football League contract with the Atlantic Falcons in 1969. He also was a member of the Westchester Bulls, a farm club of the New York Giants. Paul was recognized for his ability to consistently kick field goals of 50 yards and beyond.
Paul was an avid golfer, enjoyed watching all sports, and was dedicated to maintaining himself in excellent physical condition. He was a Health Instructor for many years in the Glens Falls area. He lived and worked in Houston, Texas and Scotland for 10 years, working as a Resource Director for a Houston Petroleum Company.
Paul returned to his hometown in 2019 and volunteered at The First Baptist Church Thrift Shoppe in Glens Falls, NY for 5 years. Paul had a great sense of humor and many friends who enjoyed his company. He will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph F. Wiedl Sr. and Patricia Anne McGrail Wiedl, his sister Winifred Dickens, and brothers Frederick Wiedl and Joseph Wiedl Jr.
Paul is survived by brothers Thomas Wiedl (Maureen) and Dennis (Mary) Wiedl, and many nieces and nephews.
In consideration of Paul’s wishes there will be no service. Please take a moment to celebrate Paul’s life in a way that feels meaningful to you.
