Paul D. Healy

Paul D. Healy, 87, husband to Patricia A. (Zwack) Healy, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 with family by his side.

Born June 25, 1938, he was the son of the late Howard and Catherine (Slater) Healy.

Paul dedicated much of his life to public service and the safety of his community. He proudly served more than 20 years with the Colonie Police Department, including a decade as an investigator assigned to the detective division, where he specialized in fraud, fire, and arson investigations. Recognized for his expertise in arson prevention and investigation, he was appointed in 1979 as the department’s representative to the Colonie Arson Task Force and was invited to testify before the New York State Assembly on urban arson issues. In addition to his police career, Paul devoted over 60 years of volunteer service to the Midway Fire Department, where he served in numerous leadership roles including Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and Fire Commissioner. His lifelong commitment to protecting and serving others left a lasting impact on the Colonie community

He is survived by his wife Pat of 63 years, and their daughter Debbie. Brother Edward (Joy Healy), and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his son, Jeff, as well as his brother Jack.

Visitation will take place on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 4:00 pm – 6:00pm, with a service by Midway Fire Department at 6:00pm, at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie, NY. Friends are invited back to the funeral home on Tuesday between 10:00 – 11:00 am, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
