Listen to Obituary

Michael Charles Boggs, known to many simply as “Dude,” passed away on 4.23.26 at the age of 75, leaving behind a family who knew him as a steady presence, and someone who found joy in both the outdoors and the quiet joy many of his hobbies. Everyone that knew him remembers his love of jokes and a good story, both telling them and hearing them.

Born in 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA, and raised in Carnegie, Michael lived a life rooted in dedication—to his family, his church, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the pursuits that brought him peace and purpose. He was the beloved husband of Patricia Boggs (née Twomlow), with whom he shared 46 years of love and partnership.

Michael was a proud father to Laura Gagnon and Megan Boggs, and a cherished father-in-law of Jason Gagnon. He delighted in his role as Grampa Dude to Eleanor, Julian, and Basil, and took great pride in watching them grow.

A man of many interests, Dude found his greatest joy outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, happiest near the water or in the woods. He had a particular passion for tying his own fishing lures, a craft that reflected his patience and attention to detail. He was also an enthusiastic amateur radio operator, a certified weather watcher, photographer, bartender, drummer, music aficionado, and a skilled weapons enthusiast. When he found a hobby, he dove in and committed himself to it.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Boggs and Julianna Boggs (Leninsky); his brothers-in-law, Daniel Musselwhite and Daniel Twomlow; and his grandson, Rhett.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, sister Catherine Musselwhite, sister-in-law Nancy Twomlow, and extended family and friends who will remember him for his steadiness, his craftsmanship, and the simple, enduring way he loved those around him.

Michael’s legacy is one of quiet strength, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed and long remembered.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mike's name may be made to Capital City Rescue Mission, St Jude Children's Research Hospital, or a Humane Society of your choice.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 11:00 am at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave, Albany, NY 12203.
