COLONIE - Matthew Leo Buda, a gift from God, beloved father, brother, son, and husband went to eternal life on Thursday, June 19, 2025 in Colonie, NY.
Matthew was born on October 16, 1985 in Vestal, NY and moved with his family to Colonie, NY in 2001. Matthew graduated from Colonie Central High School. As a sophomore for the Vestal High School varsity football team, Matthew played offensive tackle and defensive end and helped take his team to the State Championship game. Matthew played football at Colonie Central High School and enjoyed two banner years with his teammates, friends, and coaches. He was also selected to be on the Capital District All Star team. Matthew acquired a Business Administration Degree from Hudson Valley Community College and worked 25 years at his family-owned company, Qualitech Products Corp. He learned the electronic manufacturing business and become the Vice President responsible for production. He continuously created a friendly, calm work environment.
Matthew is survived by his best friend and daughter, Aria Lucia Buda; wife, Justine Congdon; sister, Erica Caryn Doran; brother-in-law, Stephen Doran; goddaughter and niece, Stella Joan Doran; nephew Cameron Leo Doran; parents Leo and Donna (Flood) Buda; grandmother, “Noni” Beatrice Santa Lucia Flood; friend and mother to his daughter, Amanda (Tedesco) Buda; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Vestal and Albany, NY. He also leaves behind his faithful dog companions, Cash, June, and Koda.
Matthew was predeceased by his grandfather, who he had a special bond with, “Papa” Milton Flood; his grandmother, “Gigi” Inara Buda; his grandfather, Leo Buda; his cousin Katlyn Jay Flood. Matthew is sure to be greeted by his beloved dogs, Primo and Rosco.
A gentle giant, Matthew loved his family and friends unconditionally. He was extremely generous and always willing to help anyone who needed him. His sense of humor was unmatched and spending time with him would leave everyone’s cheeks and bellies hurting from continuous laughter. Matthew’s most rewarding role in life was being Aria’s father. She was a source of pride and constant joy for him. We know that his spirit will live on through her, and she will continue his legacy of approaching each day with kindness, empathy, and love.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Matthew’s family on Thursday from 3 to 7 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
At the request of family and in keeping with Matthew’s wishes, the family strongly encourages you to contribute to an education fund for his daughter, Aria.
