Mary Estelle Liebenhagen

Mary Estelle Liebenhagen (Vandenburgh), 86, of Colonie, NY, passed away on March 1, 2026, at Shaker Place Nursing Home, with her cherished children by her side.

Born on November 16, 1939, in Albany, NY, Mary was the daughter of the late John B. VanDenburgh and Anna E. (Albert) VanDenburgh. She was a graduate of Guilderland High School in 1957, and spent many years working as a secretary in the funeral service profession. She began her career at Frederick Funeral Home in Albany and later retired from New Comer Cannon Funeral Home after many dedicated years of service.

Mary was married to the late Herbert Liebenhagen in 1985. She enjoyed attending craft shows and Johnny Mathis concerts, Phantom of the Opera productions, and had a special love for cats.

She is survived by her children, Max F. Fischer III (Christine), Sheri Fischer, and Dawn Callahan (John); her grandchildren, AIlyse Rothwell (Christopher), Rebecca Fischer (Bryan), Max F. Fischer IV (Alicia), Paul Rockinger, Melissa Quinlan, and Victoria Quinlan; and her great-grandchildren, Aidin, Angelina, and Carly. She is also survived by her nephews John B. VanDenburgh, III and Eric VanDenburgh.,

In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by her brother, John B. (Jack) VanDenburgh Jr.

Services were held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kitten Angels or the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Mary’s memory.

Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
