Marian Smith (Turmel), 86 of Albany, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021, in Albany, surrounded by her loving family. Marian was born in Albany to Lucien and Francis (Davis) Turmel on October 20, 1934.
She loved her five children and enjoyed spending time with them at home, going gambling, and on vacations. She went to Vincentian Institute and graduated in 1952. She worked for SUNY Albany enrolling students, then Sears HR Department, as well as raising her five children and running a tight ship at home. She had a beautiful Rose garden and loved to grow vegetables. She loved word find games and playing candy crush with her grandchildren.
Marian is predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Richard N. Smith. She is also survived by her five children: Jacquelyn Jensen (Glenn Galloway) of Niskayuna, Michael Smith (Cindy) Colonie, Leslie Feinman (Barry) of Voorheesville, Victoria Hussey (James) of Windsor, Kentucky and Rick Smith (Lisa) of Rotterdam. Her surviving grandchildren include Brittney (Adam) Maring and Ashley Jensen, Haley, Mike, and Nick Smith, Ben, Sam, and E Feinman , Michaela (Evan) Whitis, Morgan (Vance) Davis, Shea (Benjamin) Peterson, Shaun, Madison, Sidney, and Alison O’Hair. Great Grandchildren include Annabel and Zachary Maring, Bryson, Mathew and Leo Whitis, Audrey, and Jack Davis. Marian is also survived by her beloved siblings: Ted Turmel (Grace), Lorraine Redden (Bill), Cecilia Stager (Walter), and predeceased by brother Joe Turmel (Jean). Sisters-in-law, Mary Pat (Mike) Smith, ORhea (Tom) Smith, Mary Smith, and a brother-in-law Frank Smith. She was a loving aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are private. Family and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie. The funeral will take place immediately following at the Gerald B. Solomon National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
