ALBANY -Lewis A. Wilson, II, 77 years, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
He was born September 7, 1948 at Brady Hospital in Albany to the best parents, the late John L. and Rose Avellino Wilson and was the devoted big brother to Nancy Jensen. Lew was the cherished uncle to Kenneth (Deinera) Jensen and adored great uncle to Wyatt and Holland Jensen. He was the loving grandson to the late Dr. Lewis A. Wilson and Luella Ellis Wilson, and Antonio Avellino and Carmela Salmeri Avellino. Lew is also survived by many relatives and friends.
Lew was a proud veteran of the US Army. He was part of the VA Hospital community for more than forty years tending to his medical care then becoming a permanent resident in 2019 on 9C and then eventually moving to his beautiful residence on 4A. He made many friends over the years and loved the medical staff. With his recreation team, he enjoyed many cookouts, bowling and movie outings. Lew’s family is most grateful to the kind and caring staff of the CLC, ICU, 7th floor hospital team and of course his many friends at the Albany VA. Thank you for making Lew’s life one of purpose and value.
