Kirkland (Kirk) Greenfield, 84, of Colonie NY, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at Albany Medical Center.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Milton Greenfield Sr., and Margaret Greenfield Ennslin.
Kirk was a retiree of Price Chopper, retiring as a Lift Operator. Previously he was employed as a lathe and plasterer, working on many projects as they rose out of the ground such as The Egg, Corning Towers, and Colonie Center. He was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and dedicated member of Christ Our Light Parish. He always looked forward to Christmas and his role as Santa in the community for his grandchildren and the neighborhood. During his retirement years, he poured his craft into the homes of his children, where his legacy lives on in every room. Kirk loved fishing and being on his boat, making memories, sharing laughs and seeing everyone catch their first fish.
Kirk is survived by his wife Sharon, children Jessica Mason and Jennifer (Ben) Cass, honorary son Chris Wood of Kansas, and his grandchildren Kaylee Mason, Eleanor Cass and Alexander Cass, all of Colonie; his brother Herman Greenfield; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Kirk was predeceased by his son Kirkland Jr. his brothers Milton Jr., Ronald, Stepbrother David, and sister Frederica de Gonzague. Kirk will especially be missed by his close friends Cliff, Ray, Mark, Ralph and Bob G helped fill the quiet days with talk of the good old days and worldly events. They meant so much to him and his family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5 -7pm at Cannon Funeral Home, Colonie NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 24 at 10:30am in St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12205. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
In keeping with Kirk's spirit, the family invites those attending to wear comfortable, colorful clothing as we celebrate Kirk's life.
