Judy Arlene Kelly, 78 died on Monday, May 18, 2026 at the age of 78. Judy was born in Troy the daughter of the late Walter and Alberta Smith.

She is survived by her loved ones Harry M. Kelly, their daughter Christine (David) Quinn and her cherished granddaughter Teagan Quinn. In addition she leaves sisters Sandra (Leonard) Lupe, Kathy Smith and Pamela (William) Tomaszewski and numerous nieces and nephews. Judy also cherished her decades long friendship with her best friend Sue Gerry.

Judy grew up in Colonie, graduating from Colonie High School. Judy continued her education at SUNY Albany where she received a Bachelor of Arts in education. She went on to pursue a decades long career with the New York State Assembly and New York State Senate where she made numerous and lasting friendships.

Judy brought beauty and warmth to the world through her lifelong passions for quilting and animals. She spent countless hours at her sewing machine, meticulously crafting intricate quilts that will forever keep her family wrapped in love. Her home was equally filled with the pitter-patter of her beloved animals, reflecting her gentle nature and lifelong dedication to animal welfare. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of cherished memories, handmade treasures and a legacy of kindness that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Judy’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their professionalism and compassion. A special thank you to Nitza and Byrdie (AKA Jimmy), her friend till the end.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be private and at the convenience of the family.
