Schenectady - Jean Agnes Kirkham, passed Away on August, 12th at the age of 99, after a courageous battle with cancer, with family members by her side. Jean was born on June 21, 1927 in Johnson City, New York, the daughter of the late Amos Vernon, and Agnes Elizabeth Martin.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 66 years, Robert E Kirkham. They were married on May 5, 1946. Survivors include her children, James Kirkham (the late Jeannie), Kathie Youtz (Larry), Helen Lecce (Vince), Susan Mennillo (David), Robert Kirkham (Charmaine), Shawn Kirkham (Beverly) along with 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and awaiting the birth of her soon to be first great, great grandchild.

Jean was a high school graduate of Chenango Forks High school, where she played tenor saxophone in the school jazz band. She was employed by Schenectady County soil and water conservation of New York. Jean attended Faith United Methodist Church, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Jean loved oil painting, card making, crocheting, outdoor camping, jazz music, Saratoga horse racing, and most of all spending time with family, especially holiday gatherings. Loved by all, Jean was a beautiful lady with an infectious smile and spirited personality. Her presence lightened any mood and she could always be found by her husband’s side. She had an open-door policy and welcomed all to her home. Her kindness and generosity touched many lives.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12 noon at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 noon on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Saratoga National VA Cemetery.
