Colonie-Jason “No Middle Name” Smith, 49, of Albany, New York, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2026.
Jason was a graduate of Colonie High School and the owner and operator of his own trucking business, a career that reflected his independence, determination, and strong work ethic. His true passion, however, was racing. A lifelong street racer and dedicated pit crew member in drag racing. Jason spent hours working on his nitrous Mustang and helping his friends fine-tune their cars. He was always willing to share his knowledge and lend a hand, no matter who asked.
Known for his big personality, Jason was a jokester at heart. His humor, quick wit, and ability to lighten any moment made him unforgettable. He loved smoking meats, bringing people together, and simply being there for others. Jason was the kind of person everyone could count on—steadfast, loyal, and always ready to help. And let’s not forget—Jason always thought he was adorable and knew exactly how to bat his blue eyes to charm anyone.
Above all, Jason cherished his family and friends. He treasured time spent with his fiancé, and loved nothing more than being with his children and granddaughter, who were the center of his world.
Jason was predeceased by his beloved mother, Rosemary Fantroy.
He leaves behind his father, Nelson (Marion) Smith; his stepfather, Savina Fantroy; his brother, Jeffrey (Kelley) Smith; his sisters, Maria (Michael) Maloney and Jennifer (Chris) Smith; his stepsister, Dana (Dan) Galligan; his son, Brandon (Destiny) Smith; his daughter, Julianna Smith; his granddaughter, Peyton Smith; his niece, Christina Mills; his nephew, William Mills; and his fiancé, Audrey D’Agostino, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 24th at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
