Howard T. Coons, Jr.

COLONIE – Howard T. Coons, Jr., 95, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026. He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Howard T. and Beaulah Coons Sr.

Howard served in the Army National Guard before enlisting in the US Marine Corp where he fought in combat during the Korean War. He worked as a butcher for Tobin First Prize, and later with Albany ARC and Albany County. Howard always stated that “if I’d known grandchildren were so much fun, I’d have had them first” and “instead of flowers or cards, give your kids money and tell them it’s walk around money from Pa”.

He is the beloved husband of seventy-five years to Margaret M. Coons. Howard is the father of Casey (Sharon) Coons, Larry (Pam) Coons and Sean (Jackie) Coons. He is the brother of Bessie Mae Martino. He is the cherished Pa of Sarah, Austin, Nathan, Linsey, Allison, Eden, Pierce, Lily, Aiden, Noah, Noelle, David, Dayne and Jessica.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Howard’s family on Thursday morning from 10 am to 12 noon at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie.
