George J. Bushey, Jr.

COLONIE – George Joseph Bushey, Jr., 78, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at St. Peter’s Hospital.

He was born in Albany and was the son of the late George J. and Ruth Kenna Bushey Sr. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Ruth Paulsen Bushey in 2016.

George served in the US Army from 1966 through 1968. Upon his return home from Germany, George became an apprentice with Local 7 Plumbers & Steamfitters and retired as a Foreman in 2008, after forty years. George loved to tinker and putter around his house and was a great foreman for family projects. A true family man, George cherished his time with his sons and his grandchildren. George was a former member of the Midway Fire Dept. He enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino.

George is survived by his sons; Patrick (Lisha) Pinto, George (Debbie) Bushey III, and David (Colleen) Bushey. He is the brother of Daniel Bushey and the late Dawn Urquhart. He is the proud Poppy of George IV, Alicia, Andrew, David Jr., Erin, Taylor, Joshua, Travis, Anna and Vanessa. George is the brother in law of Tom Urquhart and the late Sue Bushey. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He will be missed by his faithful, canine companion, Teddy.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with George’s family on Tuesday, June 3rd from 4 to 7 at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. A prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm. Entombment will be in Saratoga National VA Cemetery at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midway Fire Dept., 1956 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12205.
