ROTTERDAM – Frederick J. Dedrick Jr, 78, of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 04, 2026 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Frederick J. and Lola Mae Phillips Dedrick. Fred served 1 year boots on the ground during the Vietnam War as part of the US Army 1st Infantry Division. He was a Heat and Frost Insulator with Local 40 in Albany for twenty-five years. Fred was a motorcycle enthusiast and a former member of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. Bigger Better Fred was also a retail enthusiast and enjoyed everything Harley. In Fred’s word’s “Whoever dies with the most toys wins.”
Fred is survived by his wife of fifty years, Kathleen L. Dedrick. He is the proud father of Michelle (Bradley) Bowen, Fredrick J. (Chanell) Dedrick III and Eileen (Brian) Dusseault. He is the brother of Raydeen (James) Gallogly, Phyllis (Daryl) Holiday, David (Beverly) Dedrick, Douglas Dedrick and the late Mary Lou Dedrick. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Fred’s family on Monday morning from 10 am to 12 noon at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave, Colonie. A prayer service will be offered at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Saratoga National VA Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Operation at Ease (operationatease.org).
