Florence C. Matuszek

NEW SCOTLAND – Florence C. Matuszek, 93, of New Scotland, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2026 at Shaker Place Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Kazimir and Frances Zadrozinski. Florence was a 1951 graduate of Albany High School. She had worked as a proofreader for Delmar Publishing, as a clerk for the Labor Dept., as a bookkeeper for C&R Drywall and at Indian Ladder Farms where she enjoyed making apple cider donuts. Florence was a devoted mother to her three boys. Along with her husband and her sons, they built their dream home in New Scotland. She loved gardening, birdwatching, creating beautiful dry floral arrangements, painting and an occasional trip to the casino.

Florence was predeceased by her beloved husband, John F. Matuszek Sr., her son, Michael J. Matuszek and her siblings, Theodore and George Zadrozinski, Jane Peplowski, Helen Mikrut, Stasia Kot and Regina DeLisle.

She is the devoted mother of John F. (Michele) Matuszek Jr. and William (Monique) Matuszek. Florence is the mother in law of Jeanine Matuszek. She is the cherished Bacci to Justin, Megan, Krista, Lillian, Brandon and Michael. Florence is the great grandmother of Jack, Lucas, Sienna, Jane and Lucy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family offers sincere thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff at Shaker Place and to Denise Hotaling and her team for their kind and compassionate care of Florence.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 10:30 at St. Pius X Church, Loudonville. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Church. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be to Hope Club of the Capital Region ( American Cancer Society/about-us/local/newyork/hopeclub), Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (mohawkhumane.org), or Ronald McDonald House (rmhAlbany.org) in memory of Florence C. Matuszek.
