Doris Ann Hodge, 89, of Albany, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of her devoted husband, Bob, and her family.
Born on September 18, 1936, Doris was the daughter of the late Andrew Kirker and Jessie (Eisler) Kirker.
Doris retired from the New York State Department of Tax and Finance after many years of dedicated service. While she valued her career, it was the life she built outside of work that brought her the greatest happiness.
For 60 years, Doris shared a loving marriage with her husband, Robert “Bob” Hodge. Together, they enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including long drives, attending classic car shows, and making memories side by side. She had a lifelong love for Elvis Presley and proudly collected Elvis memorabilia. Shopping was one of her favorite pastimes, and she never hid her appreciation for beautiful diamonds—certainly a girl’s best friend.
Family was always at the heart of Doris’s life. She found deep comfort in the close relationships she shared with her nieces and nephews. She treasured every moment spent with them, and the laughter, conversation, and togetherness they shared brought her great joy.
Doris is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Robert “Bob” Hodge; her siblings, Sally and Jerome Sgambaluri, Gerald Kirker, Nancy and Raymond Lindh; her brother-in-law, Edward Serafino; and many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her beloved son, Michael Hodge, and by her sisters, Joan Kirker, Barbara Serafino, and Sheila Kirker.
Doris will be remembered for her love of family, her kind heart, and the joy she found in the people and things she loved most. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she leaves behind will continue to bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with a funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Cannon Funeral Home, Colonie, NY. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Joan Nicole Prince Home, 22 Glenview Dr., PO BOX 2122, Scotia NY 12302, or by visiting their website by clicking here.
