Christopher J. Barton

June 27, 1975 — April 11, 2025

Niskayuna – Christopher J. Barton, 49, of Niskayuna – a father, friend and son anyone would be proud to call their own – passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 11, 2025, while vacationing in Clearwater, Florida.

Born in Albany, June 27, 1975, he was the son of Joseph W. Barton and the late Laura A. (Valenti) Barton and the grandson of the late Anthony J. and Mary (Rao) Valenti and the late Joseph J. and Ida M. (Buckley) Barton. Chris was a resident of Niskayuna and a prior resident of Albany and Berne, New York.

Chris attended Christians Brothers Academy, in Albany, New York, and graduated in 1993.

Chris was a sales representative in the wine and spirits industry for Empire Merchants North, and formerly of DeCrescente Distributing. Over the years, you may have also spotted Chris assisting at his parent’s business, Casa Mia’s Italian Specialties in Berne, where he masterfully worked the pizza ovens and crafted beautiful pies. He reveled in creating new recipes, including his teriyaki garlic parm wing sauce, and Chris loved hosting parties for families and friends, always at the grill preparing the most incredible food spreads. One of his proudest moments was a recent marinara sauce he made that got his Pop’s approval.

He was a people pleaser, no doubt, and if you were lucky enough to be a friend, to see that smile, to look into those baby blue eyes and get a hug that meant something, you knew you were cared about.

But what Chris cherished most was being a devoted Dad to his daughter Blake. Fatherhood looked so good on him, whether it was going for bike rides, watching their favorite movies, enjoying the pool, spending time at the gym, teaching her how to cook, watching the horses run at Saratoga Race Course, helping her with her homework, or cheering her on poolside at swim meets.

Blake was Chris’ #1.

Chris also loved his beach vacations and lounging poolside. He enjoyed his trips to Ocean City, Maryland and Clearwater, Florida. In his spare time, you could find him washing his car and going for a cruise around town, the radio blasting classic rock or old school rap. He also enjoyed watching sports, his favorite teams were the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and the Chicago Bulls.

Survivors include his father, Joseph Barton, and his beloved daughter, Blake Barton. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.

Relatives and friends may call at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Avenue, Colonie on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at Cannon Funeral Home on Wednesday at 10:00am. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
