Carolyn A. Miller

Carolyn A. Miller (Holsopple), 9, died peacefully in her sleep at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, NY on September 5, 2026. Born in Somerset, PA on October 10, 1934, she was the daughter of Pat and Irene Holsopple. She married John Miller, the love of her life, on July 1, 1955. She is preceded in death by her husband, who died just a few months before her, her son Dane, and four brothers and sisters, Ernie, Brian, Loretta and Twila,

Carolyn was a graduate of Boswell High school where she played in the band

After spending many years raising her children, she worked for Langdon Veterinarian Hospital as a tech. She then went to school for Nursing Assistants and worked at Meadville Medical Center. After a few years she returned to school and graduated with her LPN, continuing to work at MMC. During her tenure there she again returned to school after which she became Meadville's first Ultrasound Technician. She ended her career working in various units in the hospital, focusing on Psychiatric nursing.

Carolyn shared her love of animals with John, who served as the Crawford County Pennsylvania Game Commissioner. She cared for the many orphaned animals they took in for rehabilitation, including skunks, raccoons, squirrels, groundhogs, and deer. Spring was certainly a lively time in the Miller household.

She enjoyed many activities with her husband and family, traveling, hiking in the woods, skiing, golfing, canoeing, and gardening. She was happiest outside. She was an active member of First Christian Church and played the piano there for many years. She was also a member of the Elks and Meadville Ski Club.

Carolyn will be missed by her sister Joyce McGinnis, her daughter Joyce (Steve) Swanson, four grandchildren, Erik (Stephanie) Swanson, Jenna (Dan) Haggerty, Nicole Miller Morrison, Justin (Jessica) Miller as well as 10 great-grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on October 3rd for both Carolyn and John at First Christian Church in Meadville at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, perhaps consider donating to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a charity of your choice. She will be remembered as a caring and loving person, always looking on the bright side of life with a wonderful sense of humor.
