Bruce A. Haury passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 11, 2026, following a long battle with dementia.

Born on April 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Edward and Gladys (Baker) Haury. Bruce was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia, in 2015. They married in 1958, after meeting while Patricia attended Linton High School with Bruce’s brother. Family was always important to Bruce, and he cherished the connections he shared with those he loved.

He is survived by his daughter, Quenby Vennet (Thomas), and his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Janelle. He is also survived by his two older brothers, Donald Haury and his wife Joan, of West Monroe, NY, and Richard Haury of Florissant, MO. His nieces and nephew include Madi Aldridge (Charles), Melissa Cornwell, and Glenn Haury.

As a young man, Bruce showed an early interest in civic engagement and believed that young people should have a voice in local government and politics. While in high school, he wrote a letter to the editor of the Schenectady Union-Star in the early 1960s, expressing his thoughts on encouraging youth involvement in the community.

Bruce was also involved in programs at the Reformed Church and enjoyed helping with garden duties at the family’s two-family home on Gifford Road and his great-grandfather’s home on Bedford Road in Schenectady. He held a special place in the hearts of his grandparents, aunts, and uncles, who often made him feel like a favorite in the Haury family.

Around town, Bruce was known for his many activities at the Rotterdam Rollerama, where he worked as a floor guard, served as a DJ, and coached speedskating. His love of music and DJ events also brought him a close friendship with Jack Schneider.

Bruce will be remembered as a devoted family man who valued his loved ones, enjoyed music and community involvement, and made lasting connections throughout his life. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

At the request of the family, services will be private.
