COLONIE – Betty J. Groff, 81, of Colonie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Inn of Community Hospice.

She was born in Hudson and was the daughter of the late Henry and Meyreato Horton Sager. Betty had been employed in the restaurant industry for many years. Along with her late husband, she was the co-owner of the former Truman’s in the Village of Colonie for several years. Betty cherished her time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed many vacations in Florida and an occasional glass of wine.

Betty is the wife of the late Truman C. Groff. She is the beloved mother of Brenda (Rich) Willey, Robert (Belinda) Shumway and Kenneth (Teresa) Shumway. She is the sister of the late Shirley Palma and Lois Conklin. Betty is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Betty’s family on Tuesday morning from 10 am to 12 noon at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie. Funeral services will commence at 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
