Bertha L. Priddle, 90, of Schenectady, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Bertha was born in Schenectady in April 1936, the daughter of the late Richard and Irene (McKeon) Coons. She attended Rotterdam Junction and Schenectady schools and spent much of her life as a homemaker, caring for the people she loved.
Bertha was known for her caring heart and her willingness to help anyone who needed her. She looked after her family, the neighborhood children, welcomed people into her home, and always seemed to know what was happening around town. Affectionately known as “The Gazette,” Bertha always had the latest news to share.
At 16 years old, Bertha fell in love with the love of her life, her late husband, Glen. She devoted many years to caring for her husband and their son, Glenny, who had special needs, until their passing. She also cared for her dear friend Barry for many years. Barry was like a son to her, and he held a special place in her heart.
Bertha was a protector of the people she loved and was never afraid to speak up. She loved bowling, even dabbled in mud-wrestling, and had a personality that made her unforgettable.
She will also be greatly missed by her beloved “fur baby,” Buddy, whom she affectionately called, and was known as, “the demon dog.”
Bertha is survived by her children, Nadine, Susie, Sandy, and Tammy; her grandchildren, Davey, Gary, Joey, Dina, Sabrina, Dwayne, Katrina, Amy, Louis, and Tucker; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her children, Billy, Debbie, and Glenny.
Bertha will be remembered for her big heart, her caring nature, her love for her family, and the way she always made sure everyone around her was looked after. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will take place on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 12:00 pm - 1:30pm, with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 1:30pm, at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave., Colonie NY. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
