Avery Charles Tarquinio, a tiny warrior who touched the world with a giant spirit, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026, surrounded and embraced by the profound love of his family.

Born on January 15, 2026, to Lauren Musso Tarquinio and Alessandro Tarquinio, Avery’s life was a testament to strength, courage, and love. Known to those who loved him as "Avie Potato," "The Senator," "Spudster," and "Avie Turtle," he most notably earned the title "Ave the Brave." Throughout his journey, he navigated every challenge with a quiet resilience and bravery. He taught everyone around him the true meaning of unconditional love.

In this journey, Avery’s family was never alone. He was lovingly cared for and embraced by his godmother and nanny, Alexandra Schermerhorn. Alexandra moved far beyond any call of duty, serving as his guardian angel on earth. Her love for Avery was so abundant that it became his sanctuary, and the family remains forever grateful that Avery had the gift of her hands to hold and her heart to lean on.

Avery taught us that love is simple. It was found in the quiet moments of cuddling next to the sunshine and just looking at each other. He loved his 'batherdays' - those special bath times with his daddy - and for the quiet comfort of 'nip naps' while breastfeeding with his mommy. He cherished story time with Alex, and the constant, gentle snuggles and cuddles from all his family and friends.

Avery is predeceased by his uncle, Jordan Tarquinio, and his grandfather, Charles Musso. His family takes comfort in knowing that Avery earned his flight wings and his angel wings at the same time, taking to the skies to accompany his grandfather in flight through heaven. While his time was far too short, the impact of his life is eternal. Avery was so brave, and we will miss him so deeply.

For far too long, mothers and babies have endured Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). Despite the significant morbidity and mortality it causes, there remains limited research and funding, and a medical system that has largely accepted HG as an unknown.

Too often, women’s pain and symptoms are not believed, and sometimes, they are only believed when it is already too late.

This must change.

In honor of Avery, we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hyperemesis Research Foundation (HER Foundation). It is our deepest hope that through research and awareness, no more moms and babies will have to face these devastating outcomes. We do this for Avery, and for all the families who deserve better.

Fly high little one, we love our tough Guy forever.
