Marilyn Jean Cannon Obituary

SCHENECTADY – Marilyn Jean Cannon, 81, of Schenectady, passed away on Sunday December 23, 2018 after an illness. 

She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Edmund R. Henzel and Isabelle H. Bohl. Jean is the wife of the late Paul W. Mueller, Edgar C. Collen and John P. Cannon. She is the sister of the late Arlene I. Spadaro and mother of the late Deborah J. Collen.

Jean was the first branch manager of the first satellite office of the West End Federal Savings & Loan in Albany.  She worked for several years as an administrative assistant for the New York State Department of Education.  Jean was one of the original founding members of Birthright in Albany and was the former Vice President of E.C. Collen Construction.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Mimi J. Collen Furbeck, Barbara J. (Chuck) Collen, John J. (Kim) Collen, Patricia (Ken) Collen Miller and Twiggy C. Collen. Jean is the grandmother of Monica (Joe) Costello, David (Olivia) and Heath (Marisa) Furbeck; Nichole, Jake and Kyle Collen; Ashley (Ryan) Gillis, Jeffrey (Samantha) Dillenbeck and James Dillenbeck, Ian, Logan and Burke Cronin. She is the cherished aunt of Suzan & Ed Spadaro, and the late Carmen Spadaro. Jean was the dear friend of Patricia Konczeski.

Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 9:00 at St. Luke’s Church, 1241 State Street, Schenectady where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jean’s family on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Cannon Funeral Home, 2020 Central Ave. Colonie.  Burial will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.  Memorial contributions may me made to the City Mission, 425 Hamilton Street, Schenectady NY 12305.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or to order flowers, visit www.CannonFuneral.com
