Albert Gaillard better known as Andre was born in Charleston, SC on December 12th, 1939 to the late Lena Gilliard-Carey and late Melvin Carey. His mother had him at an early age. Therefore, he was cared for by his grandparents Virginia and Alonzo Gilliard and his two aunts-Aunt Ruthie Gilliard and Aunt Fannymae Gilliard. His grandparents transitioned in his early adolescence and his mother moved to New York city to be with her husband and 2 aunts.
Andre Loved Harlem NY. In his youth he was athletic and took up boxing. He was a formidable boxer and a golden glove contender. In 1960 he briefly dapped into politics and domestic work. He realized during this time that his real ambition was to be a successful business owner and entrepreneur. In the late 1960's, he owned various types of general merchandise stores and started a family.
He met and married Friedamae Rountree. Together they had 10 children: Carol Roundtree, Joann Roundtree, the late Anthony Roundtree, Patricia Gaillard, Carmen Gaillard, Andre Gaillard, the twins- Albert Gaillard and Frieda Sigler, Eunice Gaillard, and Tanya Bah.
He became a successful business owner and entrepreneur. He then realized he could teach, bring and share his success travelling to other cities. He became a very successful 9 figure entrepreneur. He was a key pioneer in teaching his family and friends on how to become successful entrepreneurs for over forty years.
In the 1980s, he met and married Rhonda Gaillard and the Gaillard family became even bigger. Together, they raised six children: Dietrich Sanders, Stephen Sanders, Faith Sanders, Patrice Gaillard, Chelsa Gaillard, and Kelsey Gaillard. He continued to share his knowledge and passion for business with the new additions to the family helping them to also realize their potential.
He was a grandfather and great grandfather to many children in the family. He always took an active interest in his family’s and others’ well-being. Even new acquaintances were drawn to his personality and great sense of humor. He is also survived by 1 sister Christophene Gilliard, 1 brother Melvin Carey, and a great multitude of family and friends. He will always be loved and missed by everyone who knew him.
